Detectives of the ESBU in the Kyiv region referred a case against an entrepreneur to court for using the prohibited WebMoney payment system

 Detectives of the ESBU Territorial Office in the Kyiv region have completed a pre-trial investigation regarding an entrepreneur from the Kharkiv region. During his business activities, the suspect used the WebMoney payment system, which is officially prohibited in Ukraine, for financial settlements.

The investigation established that the suspect operated in the information technology sector. Specifically, through his own internet resource, he provided hosting services for website placement, as well as access to VPN (Virtual Private Network) and FTP (File Transfer Protocol) servers.

The entrepreneur accepted payment for the provided services in electronic money through the WebMoney payment system, the use of which on the territory of Ukraine is prohibited in accordance with the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, ESBU detectives conducted a series of covert investigative actions, which made it possible to document facts of violation of the requirements of current legislation. As a result, evidence has been collected confirming the unlawful activity of the entrepreneur and the use of the prohibited payment system.

The pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal actions with transfer documents, payment cards, and other means of access to bank accounts or electronic money) has been completed.
