Detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Kyiv region completed a pre-trial investigation against a resident of Kyiv region for illegal production and sale of alcoholic beverages. The court has now delivered a guilty verdict against him.

The investigation established that the man organised the illegal production of alcoholic beverages and other alcohol-containing products. He purchased raw materials and used special equipment to ensure a full production cycle in a private house.

The counterfeit products were packaged in tetrapaks and plastic containers under the guise of well-known brands and sold in large quantities only to trusted customers.

ESBU seized almost 12 thousand litres of counterfeit alcohol. Equipment, packaging, additives, flavourings, etc. were also seized. In addition, during the searches, 6.4 thousand cigarettes without excise stamps were found and seized. The estimated value of the seized products and property is UAH 2.5 million.

The person involved in the criminal proceedings was served a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence stipulated by Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The indictment was sent to court.

The offender's guilt has been fully proven. The court sentenced the offender to three years' imprisonment under Art. 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine a fine confiscation and destruction of the illegally manufactured goods.

The court recently sentenced a resident of Kyiv region who was exposed by the ESBU for illegal sale of tobacco products.
