Detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Volyn region exposed a local resident who wanted to resell counterfeit tobacco products.

The investigation established that in one of the district centres of Volyn the man wanted to receive counterfeit goods through the post office for further sale.

Detectives inspected the scene, found and seized 9 boxes of tobacco products. The counterfeit goods were in bulk without proper packaging and excise tax stamps of the established sample. The total weight of the tobacco products is over 130 kg. The estimated value is half a million hryvnias.

The pre-trial investigation was initiated on the grounds of committing a criminal offence stipulated by Part 1 Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of seizure of material evidence is currently being settled.

Operational support was provided by servicemen of the operational and search unit of the 6th border guard detachment. Procedural supervision is provided by the Volyn Region Prosecutor's Office.
