Countering cross-border schemes and exchanging experience: meeting between the ESBU Director and the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Ukraine

posted 30 March 2026 12:00

The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine is strengthening international cooperation to counter cross-border economic offenses and protect the state's financial interests.

As part of this cooperation, ESBU Director Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Ukraine, Robert Müller, agreed on practical mechanisms for interaction between Ukrainian and Austrian authorities.

The focus is on establishing the exchange of operational and financial information, joint risk analysis of foreign economic operations, and coordinating actions to identify and stop cross-border schemes.

The partnership aims to combat customs violations, document forgery, abuse of trade preferences, tax evasion, and the illegal transfer of funds abroad.

Separately, the parties agreed to exchange analytical approaches and tools that allow for the identification of risky operations at the stage of their formation.

“Transparent rules of the game in international trade are a matter of economic security. Joint work with partners allows us to minimize abuses and protect legitimate businesses,” noted ESBU Director Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi.

The strengthening of cooperation aims to increase the efficiency of countering economic offenses and ensure the transparency of foreign economic operations. The key for us is to identify risks at early stages and prevent the implementation of schemes.

The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine expresses its gratitude to the Austrian side for its openness to cooperation and readiness to jointly counter cross-border economic offenses.
