Based on the ESBU materials, a Volyn resident will be tried for selling cars on OLX imported for the AFU

 Vehicles imported into Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian aid for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were sold via online platforms and social networks. Detectives from the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Volyn region have completed the pre-trial investigation into a Lutsk resident involved in the sale of at least 20 such vehicles.

The vehicles were moved across the customs border of Ukraine while concealed from customs control. After import, the cars were handed over to the Lutsk resident, who organized their subsequent sale. The man sought buyers through advertisements on online platforms and social networks.

The investigation established that the suspect was aware of the illegal origin of the vehicles and acted out of mercenary motives. The man used the funds received as remuneration for providing car sales services for his personal needs.

During the search, ESBU detectives halted the illegal activity and seized three vehicles.

The man has been notified of suspicion of aiding and abetting the smuggling of excisable goods, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, as well as the legalization of property obtained by criminal means. The criminal offenses are qualified under Part 5 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 201-4, and Part 1 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The case has been forwarded to the court.

The individuals who directly moved the vehicles across the customs border of Ukraine are being identified within separate criminal proceedings.

Operational support is provided by staff from the Internal and Corporate Security Department of the 6th Border Guard Detachment of the West Main Directorate of Internal and Corporate Security of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the SSU Administration in the Volyn Region. Procedural guidance is carried out by the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office.

In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a criminal offense until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
