An importing company reimbursed 4.1 million UAH in unpaid taxes due to unreliable "Euro-1" certificates

 An importing company used unreliable "Euro-1" form certificates for preferential customs clearance of vehicles and underpaid over 4.1 million UAH to the budget. ESBU detectives in the Volyn region ensured the full reimbursement of the damages caused.

The investigation established that the head of the enterprise, which specializes in the trade of motor vehicles, used "Euro-1" certificates during their import into Ukraine to obtain benefits for the payment of import duties.

During December 2021 – July 2022, during the customs clearance of transport, documents were submitted according to which the goods allegedly had preferential origin and gave the right to the application of a preferential tax regime.

To verify the authenticity of this information, the State Customs Service of Ukraine contacted the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Denmark. According to the results of the international verification, it turned out that the submitted certificates did not confirm the origin of the vehicles, and therefore the enterprise had no legal grounds for exemption from the payment of import duties.

As a result of the application of unsubstantiated customs preferences, over 4.1 million UAH in damages were caused to the state budget.

The director of the enterprise was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (providing knowingly false information to state authorities for the purpose of obtaining tax benefits, which caused large material damage). The materials of the proceedings have been sent to the court.

In the course of the pretrial investigation, the suspect fully reimbursed the damages caused to the state and also transferred 400 thousand UAH for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The pretrial investigation was carried out by detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Volyn region with the assistance of the Kyiv Customs.
