A batch of non-excise cartridges was attempted to be transported across the Ukrainian-Polish border: the case has been sent to cour

 An indictment has been sent to court regarding a man whom detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Lviv region exposed for the illegal acquisition, storage, and transportation of excisable products for further sale.

The investigation established that the suspect was not registered as an individual entrepreneur and did not have the corresponding license to trade in tobacco products. Despite this, on the territory of the Republic of Poland, he purchased a batch of cartridges for electronic cigarettes without excise tax stamps.

The man tried to illegally import exciseable products into Ukraine through the "Krakovets – Korczowa" international checkpoint for the purpose of their further sale.

During an in-depth inspection of the vehicle, customs officers detected a batch of cartridges for electronic cigarettes in the cargo compartment of the car without excise tax stamps of the established design.

In total, 456 packs of cartridges for electronic cigarettes were seized—containing two pieces each. All 912 cartridges were without excise tax stamps of the established design, which indicated the illegality of their circulation in the territory of Ukraine.

The actions of the accused are qualified under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal acquisition, storage, or transportation with the purpose of sale of illegally manufactured excisable goods). The indictment has been sent to court for consideration on the merits.

Procedural guidance in the criminal proceedings was carried out by prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office. Operational support was provided by employees of the Lviv Customs.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a criminal offense until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
