Over 7.4 million UAH of unpaid taxes have been returned to the state budget following an investigation into the concealment of income received during the construction and sale of real estate in Uzhhorod. The pretrial investigation in the criminal proceedings was completed by detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Zakarpattia region.
The investigation established that a resident acted as a co-commissioner for the construction of apartment buildings and was also the owner of the land plot where the real estate objects were being built.
During the implementation of the construction project, he received funds from citizens who intended to purchase apartments in the future residential complexes. The total amount of proceeds from potential real estate owners exceeded a UAH 37 million.
The man did not declare the funds received from the future apartment owners and did not reflect them in tax reports. As a result, he evaded paying personal income tax and military duty for a total amount of over UAH 7.4 million.
The man's actions were qualified under Part 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional tax and duty evasion that led to the non-receipt of funds by the budget on a large scale).
During the pretrial investigation, the damages caused to the state were compensated in full. The criminal case files were referred to court with a motion to release the man from criminal liability due to the payment of the unpaid taxes and duties.
The prosecution in the criminal proceedings was overseen by prosecutors from the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
