In the Lviv region, the illegal transportation of a batch of tobacco products without excise tax stamps to an international checkpoint was exposed. Detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Lviv region sent an indictment to court regarding a man who transported illegal cigarettes for further sale.
The investigation established that the suspect illegally purchased a batch of cigarettes in Lviv, which lacked excise tax stamps of the established design. The man loaded the products into a vehicle and transported them in the direction of the state border of Ukraine.

Subsequently, the cigarettes were planned to be delivered to one of the international checkpoints for further sale. ESBU detectives exposed the illegal activity, stopped the illegal movement of the exciseable products, and seized the entire batch of cigarettes.

The man is charged under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal acquisition, storage, and transportation for the purpose of sale of excisable goods).
Procedural guidance is carried out by prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office. Operational support was provided by the Lviv Customs.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
