Detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Zakarpattia region have referred two indictments to court regarding the illegal sale of fuel in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The investigation established that a 24-year-old company director and a 36-year-old entrepreneur organized the operation of two illegal gas stations in the city of Halych and the urban-type settlement of Bohorodchany. The suspects engaged in the retail sale of fuel without the required licenses or documentation regarding its origin and quality.
To sell the fuel, they used storage tanks and fuel dispensers. The fuel of dubious quality was sold for cash without being recorded in financial reports or issuing fiscal receipts.
During authorized searches, ESBU detectives seized more than 11,200 liters of counterfeit fuel, including gasoline, diesel fuel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Both illegal gas stations have now been dismantled.
The suspects have been served with notices of suspicion under Part 1 of the Act. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal acquisition, storage, and sale of illegally manufactured excise goods). The indictments have been filed with the court.
Prosecutorial supervision is provided by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court’s verdict of conviction.
