The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine handed over computer equipment and communication equipment worth UAH 112 million to units of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Smartphones, tablets and laptops of a well-known global brand will be used in the implementation of the "Eyes of the Hawk" project of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and will help the military in the performance of the assigned combat tasks.
The equipment was seized by the ESBU detectives from a group of persons who, with the assistance of officials of the Transcarpathian Customs Service of the State Customs Service, brought goods in violation of customs rules across the border of Ukraine. By not declaring the goods, the carrier evaded payment of value added tax and customs duties, which resulted in the actual non-payment of funds to the State Budget of Ukraine in particularly large amounts.
Phones, tablets and laptops that were illegally imported into Ukraine, worth UAH 112 million, were seized. Currently, the person who moved the goods to the customs territory of Ukraine has been notified of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense, provided for in Part 3 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional evasion of the payment of value-added tax, customs duties, which led to the actual non-receipt of funds to the state budget in particularly large amounts, committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy). Other persons involved in the commission of the crime are being identified.
Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by detectives of the main unit of detectives of the ESBU under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office.
We will remind you that recently ESBU provided compensation to the state of UAH 10.8 million.
