“The ESBU detectives had 95 cases of counterfeiting in their proceedings”, - Andrii Pashchuk, Deputy Director of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine

Detecting counterfeiters is one of the areas of work of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine. In 2024-2025 alone, the ESBU detectives investigated 95 such crimes.

According to Andrii Pashchuk, Deputy Director of the ESBU, US dollars are the most popular among counterfeiters.

“During investigations, detectives seize not only counterfeit banknotes, but also the equipment used to make them: printers, computers, and consumables. However, with the increase in the turnover of non-cash funds, we are also seeing a decrease in counterfeiting,” Pashchuk said.
