The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine strengthens practical cooperation with Polish law enforcement and customs-tax authorities to counter economic, organized, and cross-border crime.

During a working visit to Warsaw, an ESBU delegation led by Deputy Director of the Bureau Pavlo Buzdyhan held meetings with representatives of the Central Investigation Bureau of Police of Poland and the National Revenue Administration of Poland.

With the representatives of the Central Investigation Bureau of Police of Poland, they discussed countering organized criminal groups and cross-border schemes operating on both sides of the Ukrainian-Polish border.

Special attention was paid to the operational exchange of information, the possibility of establishing joint investigation teams, and the coordination of actions regarding individuals involved in organized crime.

Representatives of the ESBU presented the structure, powers, and operational capabilities of the Bureau. They also discussed a practical case with Polish colleagues regarding the cross-border movement of tobacco products, which demonstrates the need for coordinated work of the law enforcement agencies of the two states.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Poland, representatives of the ESBU discussed cooperation in the customs and tax sphere with the National Revenue Administration of Poland and the Customs and Tax Service, which operates within its structure.

The discussion covered countering the illegal movement of excisable goods, primarily tobacco products and fuel; the exchange of customs information and export declaration data; the use of analytical systems; and the coordination of work on the Ukrainian-Polish border.

The parties also discussed further opportunities for interaction within the framework of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Poland on cooperation in the fight against crime, signed on December 11, 2025, in Lviv.

Based on the results of the meetings, the parties determined priority areas for the exchange of information and further organizational steps. The Polish partners confirmed their readiness to develop practical cooperation with the ESBU and to continue a direct professional dialogue.
