Representatives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine took part in a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy. During the event, the participants discussed urgent issues of combating the shadow market of excisable goods, in particular, the illegal manufacture of tobacco products.
According to Serhii Perkhun, Acting Director of the ESBU, as a result of recent large-scale investigations, production lines, products and raw materials were seized from some tobacco manufacturers and licenses were revoked.
At the same time, only 7 of the 17 production lines at one of the factories have been examined, as the company's employees systematically resist and block access to the lines. This way, they prevent detectives from taking samples for the necessary examinations.
"In total, more than 20 expert examinations have been scheduled as part of this investigation. At the same time, since the beginning of the year, ESBU detectives have seized 15 cigarette production lines," said Perkhun.
For their part, the work of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in combating the illegal market of excisable goods was noted by the Ukrainian Association of Tobacco Manufacturers "Ukrtiutiun", People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak and the Chairman of the Committee Danylo Hetmantsev.
