Detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Kyiv have filed a criminal proceeding with the court over the embezzlement of over UAH 1.6 million by an official of a branch of JSC Ukrainian Railways.

The investigation established that the former director and first deputy director of the branch of JSC Ukrainian Railways in violation of the law, awarded certain employees of the branch for performing work that they did not actually perform.

This resulted in the misappropriation of public funds on a particularly large scale.

Currently the indictment for committing a criminal offence under Part 5 of Art.91 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine against the former officials has been sent to court.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by detectives of the Kyiv City Department of the ESBU. Procedural supervision was provided by prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
