Large-scale illegal alcohol production in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions: ESBU seizes products and raw materials worth nearly UAH 5 million

 The illegal production and sale of alcohol products in Kyiv and the Chernihiv region have been exposed by detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine. Products and equipment worth nearly UAH 4.7 million were seized from illicit circulation.

Detectives of the ESBU Main Detective Unit, the Territorial Office of the ESBU in Kyiv, and the ESBU Department of Detectives for Strategic Economic Protection were involved in exposing the illegal activity.

The investigation established that the suspects set up a scheme for the illegal manufacture, storage, transportation, and sale of excisable goods. Additionally, members of the group laundered funds obtained from the illicit activity through financial transactions to conceal their illegal origin.

ESBU detectives conducted searches in Kyiv and the Chernihiv region. The investigative actions took place in premises used for manufacturing and storing counterfeit alcohol, as well as in the vehicles used for its transportation.

During the searches, law enforcement seized over 45,000 liters of alcohol-containing liquids, 688 liters of illegally manufactured alcoholic beverages, production and packaging equipment, vehicles, mobile phones, and documentation.
