Illegal gambling operations in the Capital: court passes sentence following ESBU investigation

 Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in Kyiv have completed a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings regarding illegal gambling activities.

The investigation established that a woman, aiming to generate profit, organized an illegal gambling establishment in the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv. Gambling games and online lotteries were conducted in premises she rented without the required licenses, in violation of Ukrainian legislation.

The premises were used to provide access to gambling games and online lotteries.

The court found the woman guilty of organizing illegal gambling. She was sentenced to a fine of 170,000 UAH and is prohibited from engaging in activities related to the organization and conduct of gambling for one year.

Computer equipment and cash seized during the pre-trial investigation have been confiscated as state revenue.

Procedural supervision was carried out by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
