Detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Kyiv region have completed a pre-trial investigation into the illegal manufacture and sale of counterfeit alcoholic beverages.
The investigation established that a resident of the Kyiv region set up a full production cycle for counterfeit products under the guise of well-known brands. The man, who lacked both entrepreneurial status and the appropriate licenses, established an underground workshop in warehouse premises.
To ensure production capacity, the suspect purchased industrial equipment: pumps, water filtration systems, electronic scales, and large-capacity containers. He ordered raw materials, alcohol, packaging, and counterfeit packing materials via the internet.
The finished products were packaged in plastic containers and "Tetra Pak" bags, then sold under the guise of vodka and cognac from popular brands.
During the investigative actions, detectives seized over 6,000 liters of alcohol-containing substances, counterfeit products ready for sale, as well as a significant amount of equipment and packaging materials.
The total estimated value of the seized property and excisable goods exceeds 2.5 million UAH.
The suspect has been notified of suspicion under Parts 1 and 2 of the Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal manufacture, storage, and sale of excisable goods).
The indictment has been sent to court.
Procedural oversight is provided by prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court's guilty verdict.
