Grain sold significantly below market value: Case of former state enterprise head sent to court
In the Poltava region, the former director of a state-owned agricultural enterprise will stand trial for abuse of official position during grain sales. In 2023, he sold wheat, sunflower, and other crops at prices below market value. Due to the manager's actions, the enterprise lost out on nearly 2.7 million UAH in expected revenue.
Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Poltava region established that the director concluded sales contracts for agricultural products with six agricultural enterprises.
At the same time, according to an order by the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, the grain was supposed to be sold at the prevailing market prices of that time. Despite this, the products were sold significantly cheaper.
Specifically, wheat, which had a market value ranging from 6,700 to 7,300 UAH per ton at the time, was sold for 4,600 to 4,700 UAH. Sunflower, which cost nearly 11,600 UAH per ton, was sold for approximately 8,800 UAH.
According to preliminary calculations, the state enterprise suffered a revenue shortfall of nearly 2.7 million UAH as a result of these decisions.
The former director is charged with abuse of official position that caused severe consequences (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation has been completed. The indictment has been forwarded to the court.
Prosecutorial guidance is provided by the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office. Operational support is provided by the Strategic Investigations Department in the Poltava Region of the SID of the National Police of Ukraine and the Main Directorate of the SSU in the Poltava Region.
Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven through legal procedures and established by a court's verdict of conviction.
