To ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men, the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine has launched a gender audit in cooperation with UN Women in Ukraine. At the inaugural meeting of the working group, the participants have already outlined the main stages of the audit and planned activities.
In accordance with the ESBU Order No. 34 of 28.02.2025 ‘On Conducting a Gender Audit in the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine’, the audit will cover both the central office and Territorial offices of the ESBU. The working group includes ESBU employees and UN Women experts in Ukraine.
According to Maksym Kuterha, Acting Director for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalisation of the ESBU, who is the coordinator for ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men, the gender audit will not only assess the state of equal rights and opportunities in the ESBU, but also identify challenges and further steps.
In her turn, UN Women Ukraine Coordinator Tetiana Kudina stressed the importance of gender audit in the context of Ukraine's European integration and the need to strengthen the institutional mechanism for ensuring equal rights and opportunities.
At the end of the meeting, the participants approved the plan and stages of the gender audit.
An information session was also held for the members of the working group with the participation of UN Women experts Irena Protsiv and Natalia Sviderska. They discussed gender equality as the basis of a democratic society, Ukraine's international commitments in the field of gender policy and national legislation on equal rights and opportunities.
