Detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Zakarpattia region have completed a pre-trial investigation regarding the smuggling of a large shipment of fur products. The indictment has been submitted to the court.
The investigation established that while importing the goods into Ukraine, the head of the enterprise submitted documents to the customs authority with an intentionally undervalued cargo value. This was done to reduce the amount of mandatory customs duties.
At the same time, during the export of the same products, a significantly higher value was declared to the customs authorities of the Slovak Republic.
The estimated value of the seized shipment of fur products is over UAH 11 million.
The head of the enterprise has been notified of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 1 of Article 201-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (completed attempt at smuggling goods, i.e., the movement of goods across the customs border of Ukraine with concealment from customs control, excluding excise goods and electricity, committed on a significant scale). The indictment has been submitted to the court.
Procedural guidance is being carried out by the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
