Fictitious purchases of fuel cost the budget over 8.6 million UAH: The enterprise reimbursed the damages

 An enterprise from Poltava region engaged in wholesale trade reimbursed over 8.6 million UAH of unpaid taxes to the state budget. The company documented non-existent purchases of fuel in order to reduce its tax liabilities. After full reimbursement of the damages caused to the state, the case was referred to the court.

Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Poltava regio established that from September to December 2025, the enterprise reflected the alleged purchase of fuel from a number of business entities in its accounting and tax records. In reality, no deliveries took place.

Thanks to fictitious operations, the company groundlessly formed a tax credit and reduced the amount of taxes it was required to pay to the budget. As a result of this, the state missed out on over 8.6 million UAH.

The director of the enterprise is charged with intentional tax evasion in large amounts under Part 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

During the pretrial investigation, ESBU detectives secured full reimbursement of the damages caused to the state.

In connection with the voluntary reimbursement of unpaid taxes, the criminal proceedings were referred to court with a motion to exempt the director of the enterprise from criminal liability.

Operational support in the criminal proceedings was carried out by the employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations in Poltava Oblast of the DSI of the National Police of Ukraine. Procedural oversight—Poltava Oblast Prosecutor's Office.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of conviction.
