On May 20, 2022, the Director of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine met with representatives of the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine (EUAM).
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss topical issues of ESBU’s activities during the war, the current state of development of the body, vision of Bureau work after the war, in particular, protection of EU funds to support our state (international technical assistance) and further cooperation between EUAM and ESBU.
At the beginning of the meeting, Vadym Melnyk singled out the investigation of crimes involving the aggressor's assets as one of the Bureau's priorities.
“The total value of assets of russia and belarus, on which ESBU secured the seizure, is over UAH 30 billion. And this is just the beginning ", - Vadym Melnyk stressed.
In turn, Mr. Fredrik Wesslau, Deputy Head of the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine, spoke about the current areas of work of the EUAM, support for Ukrainian citizens abroad, as well as the humanitarian direction of the EUAM in Ukraine.
Support for the activities of state bodies during the aggression of the russian federation is especially important. Re-establishing ties, understanding the directions of further cooperation between the EUAM and the ESBU, providing the necessary support and assistance is the main task. Representatives of the EUAM aim to increase support for the development of the Bureau as a transparent and effective body, " - said Mr. Fredrik Wesslau.
The parties agreed to continue cooperation in the development of IT infrastructure and the creation of a powerful analytical center based on ESBU. In particular, they discussed the provision of special software products of the analytical unit and the unit of detectives, which will help bring to a qualitatively new level the fight against crime in the economy of Ukraine. They also stressed the need to develop cooperation with other international organizations and continue negotiations with the competent authorities of other countries on logistical, methodological and other support, in which the EUAM will assist the Bureau.
