Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Kyiv region completed a pre-trial investigation into illegal trade in tobacco products.

The investigation established that during March-April 2023, a resident of Sumy region organized the supply of counterfeit tobacco products, namely hookah tobacco to the territory of Kyiv region. He stored the goods in rented office and warehouse premises.

Later the offender sold the products in wholesale and retail batches via the Internet and messengers.

During the investigation the detectives of the ESBU found and seized counterfeit tobacco products worth over UAH 1.3 million.

The criminal was served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the indictment was submitted to the court.

The case is being conducted by prosecutors of the Kyiv Region Prosecutor's Office.
