ESBU exposes procurement abuse at state-owned defense enterprise

 Detectives of the Main Detective Unit of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine have exposed a logistics director at a state-owned defense enterprise for abusing his official position.

The investigation revealed that the official responsible for logistics and procurement used his position to sign a contract with a foreign company for the supply of capacitors at prices significantly exceeding their market value.

The agreement was concluded without proper economic justification and failed to comply with the principles of efficient and rational use of state funds.

As a result of this contract, the state enterprise suffered financial losses exceeding UAH 5 million.

The former official has been notified of suspicion under Article 364, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position causing grave consequences).

Investigative actions are ongoing as law enforcement officers establish all circumstances of the case and check for the involvement of other individuals.

The case is being prosecuted by the Zaporizhzhia Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Eastern Region.
