The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Students’ League of the Ukrainian Bar Association, held a meeting with law students. The event aimed to promote service in the ESBU and shape the Bureau's brand as a modern employer among talented young people.
Taras Shcherbai, First Deputy Director of the ESBU, addressed the participants, emphasizing the specifics of the Bureau’s work and the importance of an analytical approach to countering economic offenses.
«The Bureau's task is to proactively identify and counteract risks to the economy. At the same time, detectives conduct pre-trial investigations of economic crimes. The combination of analytics and investigative work forms a unique understanding of economic processes and tax evasion schemes, noted Taras Shcherbai.

During the meeting, students were introduced to the mission of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine, the specific roles of analysts and detectives, and career opportunities in the field of economic security. A lecture titled «Your Path: From Student to Officer» was also held, where participants learned about candidate requirements, career stages, and the benefits of serving in the ESBU.
A dedicated session focused on the ESBU’s analytical activities. Students were presented with the scope of an analyst's work and modern data analysis tools. Experts explained how an analytical product is created—from identifying economic risks to preparing materials for further investigation.
During the practical session on the work of detective units, students learned about key operational areas, including countering offenses related to virtual assets, smuggling, and intellectual property rights violations. Detectives demonstrated official equipment and technical tools used during investigative actions, such as searches.
The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine emphasizes that cooperation with the educational community is a vital component of building a professional and integrity-driven team to ensure the state's economic security. We thank everyone who joined the event and hope to see you among the candidates for positions at the ESBU in the future.
