The Director of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine, Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi, held a meeting with the Chief of the Toronto Police, Myron Demkiw. During the meeting, the parties discussed potential areas for partnership and exchanged views on strengthening interaction between the ESBU and the Toronto Police.
Key areas of cooperation identified include combating smuggling, enhancing the analytical capabilities of the ESBU, and developing tools for international cooperation and collaboration. Particular attention was paid to the exchange of experience and practices used by Canadian law enforcement agencies during the investigation of financial crimes, countering money laundering, and the return of criminal assets.
The ESBU is also interested in organizing training sessions for its employees with the participation of Canadian specialists, which will help increase the professional capacity of the personnel and the effectiveness of investigations.
The parties considered possibilities for establishing an exchange of information within the competence of the bodies, as well as regulatory and methodological materials, analytical reports, and other documents relevant to the performance of joint tasks.
Deepening cooperation with the Toronto Police will be another step in the development of the ESBU's international contacts and the formation of effective communication channels with key partners in the field of economic security.
