Embezzlement of over UAH 4.4 million at Ukrzaliznytsia: ESBU in Kyiv notifies two officials of suspicion

 Detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in Kyiv have notified two deputy directors of the "Track Construction and Repair Center" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" of suspicion for the embezzlement of state funds.

The investigation established that the deputy directors of the branch, abusing their official positions during procurement processes in 2023, entered into a contract for the supply of railway carriage components. The terms of the contract provided for the supply of products at prices significantly exceeding market rates.

As a result of these actions, the state enterprise suffered losses in the form of illegal embezzlement of budget funds totaling over UAH 4.4 million.

The suspects were notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (embezzlement of another's property through abuse of official position, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, in particularly large amounts, and under martial law).

The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 7 to 12 years, with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities and confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in Kyiv, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine. Procedural oversight is carried out by prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
