Analysts of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Kyiv prevented the embezzlement of UAH 12.4 million of public funds during a tender for the repair of a building of a Kyiv utility company.

Experts of the ESBU found that based on the results of the tender procedures, the customer chose the proposal of one company with a lower cost of services but without the necessary logistics and no experience in carrying out similar works.

In order to prevent the misappropriation of budget funds the analysts sent a letter to the local government and the utility company. Experts of the ESBU recommended that they check compliance with public procurement legislation and strengthen control over the procurement process.

As a result of the measures taken the procurement contract was cancelled and the unjustified use of local budget funds was prevented.

As a reminder in February the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Kyiv and Kyiv region exposed a scheme to embezzle UAH 11.3 million of budget funds during road construction by companies affiliated with the people's deputy of Ukraine.
