Detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Kyiv region completed a pre-trial investigation against a resident of Kyiv region for illegal production and sale of alcoholic beverages.
The investigation established that the man organised the illegal manufacture of cognac and vodka products on the territory of industrial premises in Boryspil district. The counterfeit products were poured into plastic containers and sold in large batches to trusted customers.
As a result of the searches, the employees of the ESBU seized 4.2 thousand litres of alcohol and alcohol-containing substances. Plastic containers and equipment for the production of excisable goods were also seized. The estimated value of the seized goods is over UAH 1.5 million.
At the end of September this year the defendant in the criminal proceedings was served a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The indictment was sent to court.
The offender's guilt was fully proven. The court sentenced the offender to three years of imprisonment under Art. 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, confiscation of material assets to the state and destruction of illegally manufactured goods.
As a reminder the court recently sentenced 4 members of an organised crime group exposed by the BES for selling counterfeit goods.
