Covered illegal alcohol production with a license: an enterprise director and his accomplice were notified of suspicion

 In the Cherkasy region, the illegal production of alcoholic beverages and alcohol distillates on an industrial scale was exposed. The products were sold without excise tax stamps, and the volumes of their manufacturing and sale were not reflected in the reporting. The director of a private enterprise and his accomplice were notified of suspicion.

The pretrial investigation is carried out by detectives of the Main Detectives Unit of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.

The investigation established that on the territory of the enterprise in Uman, the suspects organized the illegal production of alcoholic products for subsequent sale. The enterprise had a license to manufacture alcoholic beverages, but in fact, it served as a cover for the illegal activity.

For this purpose, they used technological equipment that allowed the manufacturing of alcoholic beverages and alcohol distillates on an industrial scale. At the same time, the enterprise did not obtain excise tax stamps in the established manner. The manufactured products were sold without them, and the information about their production and sale was not reflected in the financial and economic reporting.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, ESBU detectives conducted authorized searches on the territory of the production premises, in the office of the enterprise, and at the places of residence of the suspects.

At the production facility, about 12 tons of liquid with a characteristic odor of alcohol were seized. Also, during the investigative actions, financial and economic documents, rough notes, and mobile phones were seized.

The director of the private enterprise and his accomplice were notified of suspicion of illegal manufacturing of alcoholic beverages and alcohol distillates, as well as their illegal sale, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 204; Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The license of the enterprise for the right to manufacture alcoholic beverages has been canceled in the manner established by legislation. The pretrial investigation is ongoing.

Procedural guidance is carried out by prosecutors of the Office of the General Prosecutor. Operational support is provided by employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Cherkasy region of the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
