Counterfeit alcohol sold under the guise of a wholesale food warehouse

 In Bukovyna, an entrepreneur will stand trial for selling counterfeit alcohol of unknown origin at his wholesale grocery store. Detectives of the Territorial Office of the ESBU in the Chernivtsi region have completed the pre-trial investigation and forwarded the indictment to court.

According to the investigation, the owner of a wholesale food store in the city of Storozhynets sold alcohol-containing mixtures in “bag-in-box” containers without excise tax stamps, along with counterfeit alcoholic beverages featuring fake excise stamps, alongside legal products.

During the searches, ESBU detectives seized more than 3,200 bottles of counterfeit alcohol and thirty 10-liter containers with alcohol-containing mixtures of unknown origin.

Forensic evaluations confirmed that the seized products do not comply with the requirements of state standards.

The indictment has been forwarded to court under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal acquisition, storage for the purpose of sale, and sale of illegally manufactured alcoholic beverages).

The prosecution was supervised by the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office.

As a reminder, according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
