Detectives have completed a pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to court against a resident of the Lviv region who organized a scheme for the illegal movement of a vehicle across the customs border of Ukraine.
The investigation revealed that the man had illegally imported large-scale specialized equipment into Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian aid for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Subsequently, the equipment was not transferred to the military but sold for cash to the owner of a private transport company.
During the search, law enforcement officers seized a vehicle, the value of which, if legally imported into the customs territory of Ukraine, would exceed UAH 1.6 million.
Detectives from the Territorial Office informed a resident of the Lviv region that he was suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 201-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (smuggling of excisable goods). The indictment has now been sent to court.
The criminal proceedings were supervised by prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
