Apple electronics worth over 35 million UAH were attempted to be illegally moved across the border. The case has been referred to court

 A batch of Apple electronics with a total value of over 35 million UAH was attempted to be illegally moved across the customs border of Ukraine with concealment from customs control. The indictment against the man has been referred to court.

The investigation established that a 37-year-old resident of Lviv tried to illegally move a batch of electronics across the border without declaring it.

To hide the electronics from customs control, a special hiding place was equipped in the bottom of the minibus. The equipment was wrapped in black stretch film and placed in the structural cavities of the car. For this purpose, part of the bottom was previously disassembled, and after loading the goods, it was reassembled. As a result, the hiding place was unnoticeable during a normal visual inspection of the vehicle.

Arriving at the checkpoint, the man chose the 'green corridor,' which is intended for the movement of goods that do not require written declaration and payment of customs duties.

During an in-depth inspection of the minibus, customs officers discovered the hiding place. It contained 501 iPhone smartphones, 211 AirPods Pro headphones, and 107 Apple Watch timepieces. All the equipment was new and in factory packaging. The total value of the seized goods, according to the indictment, is over 35 million UAH.

The actions of the suspect are qualified under Part 2 of Article 201-3 of the CC of Ukraine—smuggling of goods in a large size, committed by moving across the customs border with concealment from customs control. The indictment has been referred to court.

Procedural oversight in the case was carried out by prosecutors of the Lviv Oblast Prosecutor's Office; operational support was provided by employees of the 7th Border Guard Detachment.
