Analysts of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine have identified several business entities in the Lviv region that aimed to receive illegal VAT refunds in the amount of almost UAH 79 million from the budget.

The companies sold imported goods throughout 2022 without showing them in tax reporting.

Officials entered false information into official documents about the alleged remaining goods in warehouses.

In this way, they artificially created and submitted applications for the refund of the amounts of the budget VAT refund.

Based on the results of this scheme, the companies planned to receive a total of UAH 78.7 million VAT refunds for their bank accounts.

In order to prevent and eliminate threats to the economic security of Ukraine from the activities of the mentioned enterprises, analysts of the ESBU sent a recommendation to the Main Directorate of the STS in the Lviv region to carry out checks on the reliability of the calculation of the amounts of the budget VAT refund.

As part of the pre-trial investigation, detectives discovered the absence of the mentioned product residues in the warehouses of the companies.

Based on the results of the work carried out by the employees TD of the ESBU in the Lviv region, the company corrected its tax reporting and refused the budget reimbursement. Illegal reimbursement of 78.7 million UAH of VAT is biased.

Employees of the ESBU constantly monitor the financial and economic operations of economic entities, the volume of imported goods and the legality of declaring the budget VAT refund.
