A state enterprise sold grain at understated prices: losses reached nearly 2.7 million UAH

 The former director of a state agricultural enterprise in the Poltava region is suspected of selling grain at prices significantly below market rates. Due to these decisions, the state enterprise missed out on nearly 2.7 million UAH.

Detectives of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine in the Poltava region established that in 2023, the head of the enterprise concluded agreements for the sale of agricultural products with six agricultural enterprises.

Despite the requirements of the order of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Ukraine to sell products at prices corresponding to market conditions, the official sold them much cheaper.

Thus, wheat, the market value of which at that time ranged from 6,700 to 7,300 UAH per tonne, was sold at 4,600 – 4,700 UAH per tonne. Sunflower, instead of almost 11,600 UAH per tonne, was sold at approximately 8,800 UAH.

According to preliminary calculations, as a result of such actions, the state enterprise lost nearly 2.7 million UAH in potential profit.

Based on the collected evidence, the former director was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of official position causing grave consequences).

The pretrial investigation is ongoing.

Procedural guidance is carried out by the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office. Operational support is provided by the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Poltava region of the DSI of the NPU and the Main Directorate of the SSU in the Poltava region.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
