From the first days of the war the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine focused on fighting the enemy on the economic front. The Director of the ESBU, Vadym Melnyk told about this on the air of the telethon Single news.
"We determine where and in which sectors there is russian capital penetration. We identify and arrest them. In the future, these assets are transferred to the ownership of our state. They are aimed at the needs of the army and the reconstruction of Ukraine. After all, the aggressor must suffer punishment, including financial punishment", - stressed the Director.
To date, the ESBU has identified and seized assets of the russian federation and belarus totaling over UAH 41 billion. These assets have been transferred to ARMA. The agency has sold such property for UAH 951 million.
One example is the seizure by the detectives of the ESBU 42 thousand tons of ammonia owned by russian companies. The value of the assets was UAH 1 billion 32 million. These assets were transferred to the ARMA which purchased military bonds for UAH 600 million.
In addition 17,800 railcars belonging to russian and belarusian entities were identified. Of these, 1625 were loaded with inventory. The value of all railcars is estimated at UAH 15 billion. These railcars were seized and transferred to a Ukrainian company with the right to use them commercially for any needs arising in the course of its business activities. These railcars have already brought UAH 1.7 billion to the state budget.
"We continue to fight for compensation by the aggressor state for the economic consequences of the war in our country," Vadym Melnyk emphasized.
