The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Oil & Gas Association have agreed on joint actions aimed at preventing the illicit trafficking of fuel and lubricants. The primary focus of this cooperation is the detection and suppression of offenses related to the operation of illegal gas stations and the shadow turnover of fuel.
The reached agreements have been formalized in a Memorandum of Cooperation, signed by Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi, Director of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine, and Yaroslav Starovoitenko, President of the Ukrainian Oil & Gas Association.
The document defines the formats of interaction between the ESBU and participants of the legal fuel market. Key focus areas include the exchange of open-source information, the creation of working and coordination groups, the implementation of joint legal and organizational measures, and the analysis of legislative compliance by participants in the petroleum products market.
A specific emphasis is placed on developing proposals to improve legislation and establishing legal mechanisms for the responsible storage of seized fuel and lubricants.
The joint work of both parties is aimed at increasing the transparency of the fuel market and ensuring fair competition.
The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine works in this area on a systemic basis, focusing on overcoming shadow schemes that have been forming for years.
