Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Kyiv exposed a group of Volyn residents who set up a full cycle of illegal tobacco production. For this purpose they set up a line for processing raw materials in their own farm.

As a result of searches at the suspects' residences and production facilities almost 34 tons of tobacco as well as draft records, mobile phones and industrial equipment were seized.

The value of the unpaid excise tax on the seized tobacco alone is over UAH 100 million.

Currently the tobacco buyers and persons who may be involved in the illegal production of cigarettes as well as the origin of raw materials are being identified.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Operational support is being provided by the SSU Office in Volyn region and the SSU Department of Internal Affairs in Volyn region. Procedural supervision is provided by prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
