Detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Volyn region exposed an organized criminal group consisting of 8 people who manufactured counterfeit laundry and detergents.

The investigation established that a resident of the Lutsk district involved accomplices for the manufacture and sale of illegal products. Together they purchased the equipment and raw materials necessary for the production of detergents, packaging containers and stickers with logos of foreign brands.

The underground production of laundry detergents was organized in a rented premises.

Labels with the names of well-known trademarks the intellectual property rights of which belong to foreign companies, were pasted on the packaged products. In the future under the guise of the original, the product was sold via the Internet at below-market prices. We sold household chemicals in bulk and retail.

Employees of the ESBU conducted a series of searches and seized more than 80 tons of falsified household chemicals. Estimated damages caused to the companies to the trademark owners amount to UAH 1.5 million.

So far, 8 defendants have been charged with committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal use of a mark for goods and services by an organized group, which caused particularly large material damage).

Operational support was carried out by employees of the Department of Detectives for Strategic Economic Protection and employees of the Ukrainian Security Service in the Volyn region. The procedural management is the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office.
