Detectives of the Main Detective Unit of the ESBU together with detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Zakarpattia region exposed illegal production and storage of counterfeit alcoholic beverages.

The investigation established that a well-known cognac factory in Zakarpattia region was manufacturing counterfeit products without the necessary licenses. The counterfeit was sold wholesale and retail throughout Ukraine.

The estimated value of the seized counterfeit excisable goods is over UAH 5 million.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing and the necessary investigative actions are underway. Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office are providing procedural guidance.
