Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureauin Chernivtsi region exposed and stopped illegal activities on production and sale of counterfeit fuel. More than 100 tons of fuel worth UAH 3.7 million were seized.

The collected evidence established that residents of Chernivtsi region in order to increase the volume and profit from sales, organized the production of counterfeit fuel at one of the region's oil depots. They added technical alcohol distillates of potent toxic substances and other additives. The illegally manufactured products were sold in the controlled network of gas stations with understatement of actual sales volumes and profits.

The investigation is ongoing, the full range of persons involved in the illegal activity is being established.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department ESBU in Chernivtsi region under the operational support of the SSU Department in Chernivtsi region and the procedural guidance of the Chernivtsi regional Prosecutor's Office.

As a reminder, recently detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine exposed officials of a gas station operator in tax evasion on a particularly large scale.
