Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine reported the suspicion of committing a crime to persons who imported the specified electronics into Ukraine. Also the employees of the SBI reported the suspicion to the deputy chief and chief state inspector of the customs post of the Zakarpatttia Customs Service of the State Customs Service, who contributed to the illegal import of a truck with smartphones, tablets and laptops into Ukraine without paying customs fees.
The aforementioned equipment was seized by the detectives of the ESBU from a group of persons who with the assistance of customs officials brought goods in violation of customs rules across the border of Ukraine. By not declaring the goods the carrier evaded payment of value added tax and customs duties, which resulted in the actual non-payment of funds to the State Budget of Ukraine in particularly large amounts.
Currently, the ESBU detectives handed over phones, tablets and laptops that were illegally imported into Ukraine to units of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The total cost of the equipment is UAH 112 million.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is carried out by the detectives of the main unit of detectives of the ESBU under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office.
We will remind you that recently the detectives of the ESBU handed over UAH 2 million worth of ammunition and medicines seized from pseudo-volunteers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard.
