The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine employees handed over more than 3,000 hemostatic agents, more than 200 unloading vests, plate carriers and armor plates to the needs of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine. As well as helmets, first aid kits, night vision devices and optical sights. The total cost of the lot is UAH 2 million.
Protective equipment and other goods were brought to Ukraine under forged documents as humanitarian aid, but the ammunition was not handed over to the military, but they tried to sell it for money.
The ESBU detectives stopped the illegal scheme of supplying goods for military purpose and dual use to the territory of Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian aid. The batch of goods was seized during searches of premises in the Kyiv region.
During the pre-trial investigation, the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine received a court decision to transfer such property to the needs of the Armed Forces.
Two participants in the criminal proceedings have currently been notified of suspicion under Art. 209 (legalization (laundering) of property obtained through criminal means) and part 3 of Art. 212 (evasion of payment of taxes, fees) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine together with the SSU under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office. It will be recalled that recently the ESBU handed over seized equipment worth UAH 112 million to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
