Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Zakarpattia region reported suspicion of 5 participants in a criminal scheme for the illegal production and sale of fuel.

Employeesof the ESBU installed officials of the capital enterprise which had permission only for wholesale fuel trade. However the suspects in addition to the sale also organized the operation of the oil refinery in Mukachevo.

Raw materials were purchased from Ukrainian suppliers and processed at the aforementioned refinery. Uncertified fuel was sold through controlled gas stations.

As part of the investigation, the law enforcement officers conducted 18 authorized searches on the territory of the refinery and in the residences of those involved in the case. Fuel equipment for its production, draft records, seals, more than UAH 3.3 million in cash, vehicles, etc. were seized.

The director of the enterprise and four of his accomplices were notified of the suspicion of 2, 3 Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the detectives of TD of the ESBU in Zakarpattia region under the operational support of the Regional Office of the SSU in Zakarpattia region and the Office of Strategic Investigations in Zakarpattia region of the National Police. Prosecutors of the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office are in charge of the proceedings.
