Analysts of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Poltava region have revealed violations in a tender for the overhaul of the Poltava Children's and Youth Sports School.

The procurement was announced by the Capital Construction Department of the Poltava City Executive Committee. Officials planned to spend almost UAH 18 million to restore part of the facade and roof of the sports school.

The Bureau's experts found that the winning bidder did not provide documents confirming the availability of the necessary equipment to perform the work. In addition the company's director is involved in criminal proceedings for misappropriation of budget funds.

On the recommendation of the Department's analysts the parties terminated the contract. This prevented the embezzlement of almost UAH 18 million of the local budget.
