Detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in the Lviv region completed of the pre-trial investigation into the shortage of mined coal at one of the mines.
During the conducted searches a shortage of 3,500 tons of mined coal was revealed.
The former acting director's abuse of office led to the embezzlement of public funds. The amount of losses is over UAH 4 million. The investigation also revealed attempts to illegally eliminate the shortfall by increasing the volume of mineral extraction.
The indictment against the official was sent to court for embezzlement of property under his jurisdiction on a particularly large scale, i.e. under Part 5 of Art. 191 (Misappropriation, embezzlement or seizure of property through abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The procedural supervision of the pre-trial investigation was carried out by the Lviv regional prosecutor's office with operational support from the SSU department in Lviv region.
The criminal offense is punishable by imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property.
We will remind that the ESBU recently informed the head of a state-owned enterprise that he was suspected of aiding and abetting the seizure of budget funds worth UAH 3 million.
