Analysts of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau in the Odesa region found a risky tender for the overhaul of an administrative building. Officials planned to spend almost UAH 17 million from the budget. The contracting authority was the Capital Construction Department of Odesa City Council.
Based on the results of the information and analytical work, the Bureau's experts found that the contractor did not have the property and employees with the appropriate qualifications. Thus, the company did not meet the tender requirements.
To prevent the embezzlement of almost UAH 17 million from the local budget, the Territorial Office's analysts sent a letter of recommendation to the spending unit. Following its review, the customer and the contractor canceled the contract.
According to Serhii Muntyan, Head of the Territorial Office of the Economic Security Bureau in the Odesa region, this is not an isolated case in the Odesa region. That is why analysts pay considerable attention to monitoring public procurement.
"Since the beginning of the year, the Office's experts have analyzed more than 700 tenders announced by budget spending units. We have prevented the embezzlement of over UAH 41 million," said Sergiy Muntyan.
