Detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Kyiv region completed a pre-trial investigation into the fact of illegal trade in tobacco products.

The investigation established that a criminal group was operating on the territory of the Kyiv region which sold illegally manufactured tobacco products and alcohol. The extras stored counterfeit goods in warehouses in Bila Tserkva and Fastov. Counterfeit goods were sold wholesale and retail throughout Ukraine.

During the investigation detectives of the ESBU discovered and seized almost 40,000 packs of illegally manufactured cigarettes, 350 liters of counterfeit liquor and vodka products with forged excise tax stamps and a truck used to transport products to sales points.

The estimated value of excise goods seized from illegal circulation is UAH 2.8 million.

Currently the person involved in the criminal proceedings has been notified of the suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the indictment was referred to the court.

Procedural management is carried out by prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
