Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Odesa region seized over 400 thousand packs of cigarettes of well-known brands without excise stamps. The container with counterfeit cigarettes was located in the Reni trade port.

In the course of investigative and operational actions the employees of the Territorial Department established that the recipient of the products was a company providing freight forwarding services. The goods were brought to Ukraine in a container that arrived from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The estimated value of the seized goods is UAH 32 million.

The investigation is ongoing. The full range of persons involved in the illegal activity, ways of supplying tobacco products and their further sale are being established.

The pre-trial investigation under Part 1 Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Odesa region in cooperation with the operatives of the Izmail Border Guard Detachment under the procedural supervision of the Odesa Region Prosecutor's Office.
